In 2023, Stanton County School District, USD 452 applied to be a recipient of the Local Food for Schools (LFS) grant recipient. An opportunity for school lunch programs to source locally raised food items. An effort from the government to bridge the gap between local farmers and public school entities.
Michelle Canny, owner of Wholly Cow Market along with her husband Matt, applied to be in the selection of local farmers for the opportunity to provide schools such as their hometown, farm-fresh, all-natural, pasture raised and finished ground beef.
The efforts were finally put together and Michelle delivered 670lbs of ground beef to her childrens' school cafeteria on Novembr 6, 2024. We appreciate the opportunity and are excited to feed the very mouths of our local students.
