They graze for over 720 days on native grasses, cover crops, and wheat grass. You can count on all our products being hormone free, antibiotic free, & grain free!
Made with Pure Beef Kidney Tallow
We use only the kidney beef fat (commonly known suit), which is the highest quality fat on a cow. Tallow is the star ingredient in all of our balms; we don’t skimp on the good stuff. Tallow does NOT clog pores. It has a comedogenic rating of 2. Beef tallow is also nutrient-dense, rich in Vitamins A, D, E, K and healthy saturated fats. Our tallow lacks the strong, gamey odor that some low-quality tallows have.

The welfare of our animals is important to us! We take animal husbandry to heart. Our cattle calve in the late spring to ensure easy, safe, and healthy calving for both the mother and calve. Our bulls have specific grass-fed genetics, desirable for our short grasses and dry weather, making our program both sustainable and regenerative. Our cattle roam under the big sky and (15,000 acres to be exact) aren’t pinned up .

We search for the best, highest quality oils, unrefined USA beeswax from local hives, and unrefined virgin butters when possible. We source ingredients from companies that hold & display sustainable & regenerative practices.
Sustainable Packaging & Shipping
We avoid single-use plastics & plastic packaging when we can. We don’t use any styrofoam (which is non-biodegradable). In an effort to cut back on waste & environmental impact, we use glass, metal & biodegradable packaging where possible. Our glass containers may be reused for dual purposes. Shipping boxes are recyclable.
Handmade, No Co-packing
We’ve heard concern from customers that many “small” tallow makers outsource their production to large co-packers, who not only use low quality tallow, but bleach and deodorize the tallow. What’s scary is that these processes can add harmful chemicals to the tallow without being disclosed in the “ingredient list”. You think you’re buying an all-natural product, but may not be. Here at Wholly Cow Market, we render and produce all our tallow products ourselves in small batches. We don’t use a co-packer. Nor do we use any chemical additives, waxes, stabilizers or deodorizers. Michelle formulates each balm herself with health and comedogenic factors in mind. She spends a significant amount of time researching, formulating, sourcing, experimenting and testing every product herself to ensure effectiveness.
